Sarah Thomson releases parody video of Pitbull’s ‘Timber’ to advocate for her Tunnel Toronto Plan

Today the Sarah Thomson Campaign for Mayor of Toronto released a parody of the Pitbull and Ke$ha’s music video “Timber.”

The revised lines (sung by Sarah Thomson and White Kanye) mirror Sarah’s commitment to taking transit underground with her Tunnel Toronto Plan. “It’s going down, I’m yelling timber; We’ll build the subway, a vast expanse.”

The song goes on with lines, “Let’s stop the fight let’s work together … ” reflecting Thomson’s desire to bring both sides of the transit debate together, to unite the city around her Tunnel Toronto Plan.

Sarah Thomson has dedicated her life for the past five years to advocating for transit expansion in Toronto. Unlike other candidates, Thomson is in the race with a strong mission to build the tunnels today that Toronto needs for a strong economic future.

“I’ll do whatever it takes to inspire people to invest in transit expansion, in a strong future for our children and grandchildren. We must put tolls on non-residents using the DVP and Gardiner Expressway to fund and get the construction started on the Yonge Street Relief Line.”

Sarah Thomson created this parody music video to reach beyond the regular news channels to inspire those frustrated with the lack of true leadership on transit expansion in Toronto.

From music videos, transit town halls, to mayoral roundtables, Sarah Thomson has dedicated more time to transit expansion in Toronto than any other mayoral candidate. Her administration will set about building the transit Toronto needs immediately.

“Timber”

[Sarah]
It’s going down, I’m yelling TIMBER,
We’ll build the subway, a vast expanse
Let’s stop the fight, let’s work together
I’ll be the one, you won’t forget

oooooah (timber), oooooah (transit), wooooah (it’s going down)
Wooooah (timber), wooooah (transit), wooooah (it’s going down)

[Kanye]
The bigger the line, the longer the time
These underground trains, will relieve all the pain
I want ‘em with a big caboose, shovels down
Chugging in the darkened tunnels, TIMBER
Race down, too busy up, TIMBER
That’s the way we like to — ride – TIMBER
I’m sick of the streets that fill
We have to dig + I know she will — TIMBER

Swing your partner round and round
End of the road, we’re going down
Long-term solutions are underground
End of the road, we’re going down
Swing your partner round and round
End of the road, we’re going down
Long-term solutions are underground
Swing your partner round and round

[Sarah]
It’s going down, I’m yelling TIMBER
I’ll build the subway, a vast expanse
Let’s stop the fight, lets work together
I’ll be the one, you won’t forget

It’s going down (it’s going down), I’m yelling TIMBER
We better move, we’re in a trance
Let’s stop the fight, let’s work together
I’ll be the one, you won’t forget

Wooooah (timber), wooooah (transit),
Wooooah (timber), wooooah (transit)

[Kanye]
Reverse demographics—it’s a term, they describe
the flow of people from burbs to east side
Live in boxes, swing on trains
Blessed to say, transit’s their thing
Toll pumping she’s a stumping, holy
Courage to dedicated funding, moly
Some about to frown. Why? ‘Cause it’s about to go down

Swing your partner round and round
End of the roads, we’re going down
Long-term solutions are underground
End of the road, we’re going down
Swing your partner round and round
End of the roads, we’re going down
Long-term solutions are underground
Swing your partner round and round

[Sarah]
It’s going down, I’m yelling TIMBER
I’ll build the subway, a vast expanse
Let’s stop the fight, let’s work together
I’ll be the one, you won’t forget

It’s going down (it’s going down), I’m yelling TIMBER
We better move, we’re in a trance
Let’s stop the fight, let’s work together
I’ve be the one, you won’t forget (you won’t forget)

Ooooah (timber), wooooah (transit),
Wooooah (timber), wooooah (transit),

Wooooah (transit), wooooah (c’mon),
Wooooah (timber), wooooah (you won’t forget)

It’s going down, I’m yelling TIMBER,
We’ll build the subway, a vast expanse
Let’s stop the fight, let’s work together
I’ll be the one, you won’t forget
